For most of the years that I was Director of the gross anatomy course at Stony Brook, students were given the opportunity to make anonymous comments about their experiences taking the course. Some of these comments were selected by me to show succeeding classes during the final lecture delivered to them. I selected comments that were either highly laudatory or, in my opinion, highly humorous. I recently decided to make them public. They are presented in chronological order, with one exception. Dr. Ronac Mamtani, currently the David J. Vaughan Professor of GU Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, identified himself as the author of one of the comments and asked that it be presented first. Over the last 20 years I have remained in contact with Dr. Mamtani and his dissection partner Dr. Tariq Ahmad, currently Associate Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Heart Failure Program at the Yale School of Medicine. It goes to show you that two goofy guys can grow up to be outstanding medical practitioners and researchers.
