Essentials of Gross Anatomy is a textbook published in 1988 by F. A. Davis Co. The copyright has been transfered to the author. Two versions are available here. Both may be downloaded free of charge.
Essentials of Gross Anatomy - 2001 (EGA 2001) This version (569 pages) is organized identically to the published text, but I have corrected known errors (as of 2003) and included a few new bits of information, which are highlighted in yellow. Because the published text did not always discuss things in the order in which they were encountered during dissection, it was viewed by some as being a better review text than an introduction to gross anatomy. The electronic version available here does not have an index, but the .pdf files are searchable. Click on Essentials of Gross Anatomy - 2001 for downloadable files.
Essentials of Gross Anatomy - 2003 (EGA 2003) This version (609 pages) is organized so that for any region of the body, topics are discussed in the order in which they were encountered using the 12th edition of Grant's Dissector. Although later editions of this book do not always follow the same sequence of dissection, I have not bothered to reorganize EGA 2003. EGA 2003 further differs from EGA 2001 in that one-quarter to one-third of the illustrations have been changed to color. An index is provided and the .pdf files are also searchable.
I have not made any changes to EGA 2003 in the last several years, so if you find any difference between information it presents and that found in either Core Concepts in Anatomy, or Clinical Sidelights to Core Concepts, believe the latter two.
